Sending
What can I put in an envelope?
A letter, photos and videos, in any mix. You can record a video with sound in your browser, or upload one you already have.
Can I record a voice message without video?
Not at the moment. You can record a video, and the sound comes with it.
Do I need an app?
No. SealedIn works in your web browser.
Can I send one envelope to several people?
Yes, as many as you like. Each person opens it with their own email address.
Can I save it and finish later?
Yes. Save it as a draft, and nothing is sent until you seal it.
Can I change an envelope once it's sealed?
No. Sealed means sealed: what you send is what they get. You can cancel it before delivery. A cancelled Premium envelope goes back to a draft you can change and schedule again.
Timing and delivery
Can I send a message to my child in 18 years?
Yes, as a Premium envelope, which can be sealed for up to 25 years. Free envelopes go up to 3 years.
Can I schedule an email 10 years in advance?
With SealedIn, yes: a Premium envelope can wait up to 25 years, and arrives by email on the day. What arrives is an email with a link to your envelope, not your message pasted into an email.
How exact is the timing?
You choose the minute. In our own test on 16 October 2026, an envelope arrived 31 seconds after its time. We aim for within a minute, but we don't promise it to the second, and email providers can sometimes add a short delay.
Whose time zone is the time in?
Yours, as your device shows it when you seal the envelope. Everyone receives it at that same moment, which might be a different hour where they live.
Will I know it's been delivered?
Yes. We email you when it's delivered, and tell you if anyone couldn't be reached. If you sealed it more than a day ahead, we also remind you the day before.
Will I know when they've opened it?
No. We don't tell senders when an envelope is opened.
Can SealedIn send a message after I die?
Not in the way you might mean. SealedIn delivers on a date you choose; it doesn't know when someone has died, and it doesn't release envelopes early. An envelope you've sealed will still be delivered on its date. For messages meant to be released on death, a will, or a service built for that, is the right place.
Recipients
Does the person receiving it need an account?
Yes. To open an envelope, they create a free SealedIn account with the email address it was sent to. There's no password: we email them a one-time code. It takes a minute and costs nothing.
Will they know it's coming?
Only if you want them to. When you seal it, you can send them a heads-up with the date, and they'll see a countdown. Otherwise they won't hear from us until the day.
What if their email address changes?
Once sealed, an envelope's addresses can't be changed. You can cancel it before delivery and seal it again with the new address.
If I cancel, are they told?
No, we don't email them. If you'd told them it was coming and they look, a free envelope shows as cancelled. For a Premium envelope, the link they were sent stops working and shows "not found".
What happens if I cancel a Premium envelope?
It comes back as a Premium draft that you can change and schedule again. Cancelling doesn't refund anything automatically, and a Premium draft can't be deleted. Within 14 days of paying you can ask for a full refund, unless the envelope has already been delivered. The terms say how to ask.
Privacy and safety
Who can see what's inside my envelope?
You, and the people you send it to, once it's delivered. We don't look inside envelopes; our own tools show only details like the title you gave it, dates, recipients and file names. Envelopes aren't end-to-end encrypted, so we're straight with you about that: they're held by us, and kept private by our rules, not by a key only you hold.
Where is it stored?
On Amazon Web Services in London.
How do I delete my account?
Email support@sealedin.app and we'll close it. Drafts and envelopes not yet delivered go with the account; envelopes already delivered stay with the people you sent them to.
Who can use SealedIn?
Anyone aged 16 or over.
Pricing
Is SealedIn free?
